The Delta State Contributory Health Commission was established by the Delta State Government to ensure access to quality healthcare services for residents, regardless of socio-economic status or location, in pursuit of Universal Health Coverage and SDG 3.

About the commission

Built to make healthcare access equitable, affordable, and accountable.

The DSCHC regulates, supervises, implements and ensures effective administration of the mandatory Delta State Contributory Health Scheme for residents of the State.

The law establishing the Commission was signed on 4 February 2016 after legislative passage in December 2015, creating the Commission, the Scheme and connected governance structures.

Formal

Formal Health Plan

Premiums are paid through payroll percentage deductions and cover a principal enrollee, spouse and four children below 18 years, with counterpart employer contribution.

Informal

Informal Health Plan

Individual residents can subscribe annually. The current official public-site premium states NGN 7,000 per enrollee per year for informal coverage.

Equity

Equity Health Plan

For vulnerable groups including pregnant women, children under 5, elderly residents above 65, persons with disabilities and residents classified as poor.

Private

Private Health Plan

For individuals who subscribe to additional premium options for enhanced healthcare service needs under the DSCHS.
